Your files

We use the file you upload only to convert it. The original and the converted copies are stored on our server in Canada (OVHcloud, Beauharnois, Quebec) and are deleted automatically 24 hours after upload. Nobody looks at them, and they are not used for training, analytics or anything else. Each file gets a random link that only you know.

What else we store

• Technical job data for 24 hours: file name, size, page count, conversion status.
• A one-way hash of your IP address, to limit abuse of free previews. We do not store the IP address itself.
• Payment records: a reference to the Paddle transaction, kept as long as accounting law requires.

We do not use advertising cookies or third-party trackers on this site.

Payments

Payments are handled by Paddle.com, our Merchant of Record. Paddle collects your payment details and email under its own privacy policy. We never see your card details.

Where data is processed

The service is operated from Ukraine; files are processed and stored on servers in Canada (OVHcloud, Beauharnois, Quebec). Canada is recognised by the European Commission and the UK as providing an adequate level of data protection. If you are in the EU or UK, the transfer of the data listed above to the operator is based on the need to perform the service you request (Art. 49(1)(b) GDPR) and on the safeguards described here: short retention, no access to file contents, encryption in transit.

Your rights

You can ask us at any time to delete your file before the 24-hour limit, or to tell you what data we hold about you. Write to support@fileopens.com.
